Lesson Summary
Defining what an endangered species is, exploring possible causes, and creating a hypothesis to prevent extinction or increase species population. Students will use technology to explore the seven continients, select an endangered species to research, and present their findings to the class.

Students may not be able to find an agency that is actively protecting the species they chose. If so, students will locate another similar species and evaluate that organizations efforts.

Problem Statement
If you are unable to locate an agency that is actively protecting the species you chose, then locate another similar species and critique that organizations attempt to save that species.

Make a compare and contrast chart showing what has changed: food supply/food chain, human causes

Students will write a document that summarizes their findings in paragraph form, save images and hypothesis their idea of saving the species


Results Presentation
One page report which includes the species they chose, the causes of endagerment, the organization that is attempting to protect the species and a critique of their efforts, and a hypothesis of what they (the students) propose to do about the particular endangered species.

Students will present their findings and hypothesis regarding their action to save the endangered species to the class.

Discuss species they want to choose

Strategies to develop students' attitudes towards the problem, motivation, and overall mindfulness:
Present power point presentation which identifies what an endangered species by discussing it with the class. Show examples of endangered species with descriptions similar to what is requested in the lesson. Lastly, show a slide of the continents and assign students to a particular continent.
