Lesson Summary
The lesson involves students in the poetry writing process by practicing several patterns of poetry.The lesson uses both technology and traditional methods. The lesson uses figurative language. Students will make a PowerPoint presentation using their poems.

Teacher will have material showing poetry patterns and examples of figurative language. These will include onomopoeia, haiku and cinquain.

Problem Statement
Students will create three original poems on topics of their choice demonsrating the corrct use of each pattern.Students will include at least one example of figurative language in each pattern.
